Family

Parambrata Chattopadhyay (Parambrata Chatterjee) was born on 27th June 1980 in a Bengali Family in Kolkata West Bengal. His father Satinath Chatterjee was a Photo Journalist in Bengali Newspaper Sangbad Praitidin and Suntetra Ghatak is his Mother. Parambrata has a relation with The iconic director Ritwik Ghatak From his mother side. He has also a connection with Novelist Mahasweta Devi.

Childhood

Recently he finished his Film Studies from Bristol University, United Kingdom. Earlier he went to Dolna Day School and Then Path Bhaban. He completed his graduation and masters in English literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Career

Parambrata Chattopadhyay starts his career from Television and Telefilm. There was a program named Sahityer Sera Samoy in ETv Bangla. He did many important characters in that show. Sandip Roy cast him as a Topshe for his Feluda Movie Bombaiyer Bombyete in 2003. He did some films before that like Hemonter Pakhi and Bhalo Theko in that year. But Bombaiyer Bombete made him more popular in Bengali Film Industry.

After the success he did two more feluda films with Sabyasachi Chakraborty in Koilashe Kelenkari in 2007 and Tintorettor Jishu in 2008. In the meantime he also did some important characters in Prabhat Roy's Shubho Drishti in 2005 and Rituparna Ghosh's Dosar in 2006 and Anjan Dutta's The Bong Connection in 2006.

22se Sraban the Srijit Mukherjee's film bring a success in Main Stream Cinema for him. Now he becomes a Commercial Successful Hero. With hardcore mainstream cinema he also continued Art house cinema also like Kaaler Rakhal in 2009, Gautam Ghosh's Kaalbela in 2009, Kaushik Ganguly's Apur Panchali in 2014.

As an Actor, He is the first choice of Srijit Mukherjee, Kaushik Ganguly, Mainak Bhaumik, Anjan Dutta, Birsha Dasgupta. After Baieshe Sraban Parambrata did some more successful films in Srijit Mukherjee's Hemlock Society in 2012, Chotushkon in 2014. Param did films in Kaushik Ganguly's Break Fail in 2009, Bastushaap in 2016, Cinemawala in 2016.

Bollywood Entry

Sujoy Ghosh's masterpiece Kahaani was shot in Kolkata with Maximum Bengali actors and actresses. Inspector Rana was the Police Friend of Vidya Bagchi in that film. Parambrata play that role and support Vidya Balan very much. The character and the film bring the attention of all India towards him. He got many awards for that role including Zee Cine Awards for Best Actor in Supporting Role in 2013.

When director Satish Kaushik take the Hindi rights of Bhooter Bhobisyot, He cast Parambrata for the same character in Gang of Ghosts film as like the source film.

He did Rajesh Pillai's upcoming film Traffic with Jimmy Shergill, Manoj Bajpai, Prasenjit Chatterjee and Divya Dutta.

Parambrata as Director

Parambrata is a not only an actor, he also directed some big and hit films. He made his debut in film direction with Jiyo Kaka in 2011. Rituparna Sengupta, Rudranil Ghosh, Rahul was her costar. He also did a character in that film.

After Jiyo Kaka he made another sexual comedy film Hawa Badal in 2013 with his friend Rudranil Ghosh. It got some attention by film critics.

His next venture with Prasenjit Chatterjee in Lorai was the big budget movie was a big flop. It was a Sports film with some political views.
