After Golden Period, Bengali Music suffered very much before coming to Gautam Chattopadhyay with Mohiner Ghoraguli and Kabir Suman (Then Suman Chattopadhyay) with his solo songs. It was the early 90s when Kabir Suman and Nachiketa brought some fresh air in Bengali Music with their own style.
Band format was not there in before the 90s, after rising of Kabir Suman, Nachiketa, Silajit many youngsters are influenced by them and they started to think that there is some hope in Bengali music also. They inspired by Suman Nachiketa ‘Gharana’ and make a group naming Bangla Band.The first band was definitely Mohiner Ghoraguli made by Gautam Chattopadhyay, The band was established in 1975.
Now let's come to Chandrabindoo - The name refers both to the last character in the Bengali alphabet and to a dialogue from the hilarious work HaJaBaRaLa by Sukumar Ray. The band is known for Chandril's satirical, colloquial lyrics, full of references to current affairs and cultural phenomena. They also sing other types of song by Anindya. Lead vocalist Upal is also very popular for his unique voice. They are well known in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai and have recently started touring internationally including a performance in aid of the Kolkata based Child In Need Institute in London. Chandrabindoo is the official brand ambassador for CINI ASHA
Chandrabindoo was made by initially Upal Sengupta with Anindya Chatterjee in Late 90s when they were College Students. Chandril Bhattacharya joined them as a Lyricist and Non-Regular Singer. Anindya and Upal are the Lead Singers of this Band. They also write songs and give music.

In early days, Pritam was a member of this band. The well known Bengali Actor Jishu Sengupta also play drums for this band. Music Director Drono Acharya was a former member of Chandrabindoo.
Chandrabindoo released their first album ‘Aar Jani Na’ from T-Series in 1997. It was a very good song album with the new type of songs and they received very warm reviews . When Gautam Chattopadhyay listen to their songs, he recommended Sagarika Music to release their songs and The second album ‘Gadha’ was released from Sagarika Cassette Company in 1998.
The next year, in 1999 they came with their third released ‘Twaker Jotno Nin’ from Asha Audio. Candrabindu established their Image, Their songs are recognized as a satire. They are making fun about our society and our system with their songs. Bengali did not listen to these type of songs ever. They bring even they create a new type of songs. When Kabir Suman, Nachiketa are going Down, When Anjan Dutta did not produce new songs, Chandrabindoo made a new listener and established their own way.
‘Chaw’ was hugely successful , it was their fourth released. Asha Audio released that Album in 2001. ‘Gaan Bhalobese Gaan’ from this album became a Bengali Phrase, everybody used this lines for Various Musical Programs in Television, Radio, College Fest in everywhere.

Upal Sengupta is the founder member of Chandrabindoo. He first decided to form a Band and when he met with Anindya, they both are take initiative to build up Chandrabindoo. Firstly they rehersal at Upal House and They record their first song in a Record Player in Upal's bathroom.
Upal ia a Good Cartoonist aslo. He has a Coulm in Anandabazar Patrika for Cartoon named 'Sera 10 ti Upay'. Upal did music direction for his friend Anindya Chattopahdyay's Debut film 'Open Tee Bioscope' in 2015.
Anindya is popular by Chandrabindoo as a Singer, Lyricist and Music Director. He also did some supporting roles in Rituparna Ghosh's Subha Mahorat and Srijit Mukherjee's Jatiswar and Some other films. He is a Good writer also and he is a Editor in Bengali Supplimentary 'Robbar' with Pratidin. He wrote a Column for Ananda Bazar Patrika. He has many best selling published books like 'Niruddesh Somporkye Ghoshona' and others. It was not just like Story Books. These book revealed the lifestyle of The 90s.
He was made his debut in film direction with Open Tee Bioscope in 2015. It was a Massive hit. His friend the Co-Band Member Upal Sengupta did the Music Direction for this film.
Anindya won 56th National Awards with Chandril Bhattacharya for The Lyrics of Bhindeshi Tara.
Chandril is mainly Lyricist of this band, althoug he sang some satire for the Band. Chandril is also welknown for his own style of talking with extreemly logical and correct, nobody can win by arguement with him.
In an interview Chandril tols he first met with Anindya in a school level debate. On that debate Chandril was first and Anindya won the Second place.
Chandril Bhattacharya also a Passout from SRFTI and he did a Film Y2K ( a Sexual Comedy with against our Society's funny System). Chandrabindoo as a Band did the Background Music for this film. Later Chandril wrote a Column in Anandabazar Patrika named 'Uttam Madhyam'. In that coulmn he critisized anything like Films, Musics, Televission Shows and Commercial Advertisment also. It becames very popular and released in a Book with same name.
Chandril won 56th National Awards with Anindya Chatterjee for his Lyrics in Antaheen.
